Spike Lee uses KICKSTARTER.  Independent filmmaker Spike Lee decides to use crowd funding online via KICKSTARTER.  At this given moment, Spike Lee is half way to his goal, so his supporters are definitely backing him!  He is also receiving backlash from the media and others.  Spike Lee's defense is that he always raised funds as an independent filmmaker and this is just a new platform, that brings more exposure to the product and a more feasible way to collect money.  Spike Lee also has some really cool rewards he is giving out to his supporters! Click the LINK to find out for yourself.

Do you feel he is right or wrong for doing so?

Let Me Explain...American Antagon1st

"Let Me Explain...American Antagon1st" blog post by Ant Thomas
American Antagon1st Theme Music for "Let Me Explain"

Film starring comedian Kevin Hart "Let Me Explain" will be releasing today, 7.3.13!  This is great for Boston and great for American Antagon1st, because he is a Boston artist whose song was selected as the theme music for "Let Me Explain"!

"The Narcissist" song by American Antagon1st gives us a glimpse into the personalities of both American Antagon1st and Kevin Hart.  In the music video below and in lyrics you will see flashes of ego, pride, and self-admiration all characteristics of being a Narcissist.

American Antagon1st produced this entire song: lyrics, vocals, beat, recording, mixing, and mastering.

"It takes greatness to be a Narcissist!"

Sara Baartman Story and Poem by Dede Hunt

Sara Baartman Story and Poem by Dede Hunt
Blog post by Ant Thomas

JordanaSoliel, a photographer out of Boston, constantly points out to me that young women now are volunteering themselves to be Sara Baartman.  I finally took the time to do some research on Sara Baartman, and she was a well endowed Black Woman, from South Africa.  Sara Baartman willingly went to Europe, only to be made a spectacle of because she was much curvier than white women in Europe.  Sara Baartman was forced into public display and prostitution, very much like the women photo'd on the right are on public display.

The women photo'd on the bottom, are doing a "You Can Touch My Hair" display in Union Park Square for un-ruly.  Un-ruly is a website that makes hair products and styles available online, in one location because Black Women spend nine times more than any other ethnic group on hair and beauty products than anyone else.

Sara Baartman died in 1815, at age 25 of disease and loneliness.  When she died, Europeans took out her vagina, brain, skeleton, and put them in jars for public display.  Sara Baartman's body was also turned into plaster and put on public display.  The display was not taken down until nearly 1974, and her body remains were not returned to South Africa until 2002.  Sara Baartman was disgraced for nearly 200 years.  There are three women on display, one with her hair being touched in the photo.  At what point is curiosity being taken too far? When will ignorance not come back to haunt us?  When does self dignity come into play?

"You Can Touch My Hair" Display
Union Park Photo taken 6.6.13.
There will be another display
held on 6.8.13.

America is Still Segregated

America is Still Segregated blog post by Ant Thomas

America is still segregated. There are people who make claims racism is no longer alive, but if you do your research you would know this is a lie. There are a pool of talented people landlocked to poverty and crime, we often refer it to the trap. Check out this analysis of the 2010 Census data by professors John Logan and Brian Stult at Brown and Florida State.

Active Duty Soldier Illegally Disarmed

This is interesting. If citizens are automatically deemed a threat while carrying firearms, why aren't police considered a threat?
